2007 Tupperware Brands Environmental, Safety & Health Report

Tupperware Brands’ Corporate Environmental, Safety, & Health Engineering Department along with Environmental & Safety Professionals at all the facilities worldwide use a process of continual improvement to implement best practices that ensure a safe and environmentally friendly company. Worldwide Standardized Policies & Procedures, Internal EHS audits, inspections, training, tracking of resources, elimination of hazards, and energy conservation are the means through which Tupperware Brands meets it environmental, safety, and health goals and objectives.

Health & Safety

Tupperware Brands’ commitment to the Health and Safety of its associates continues to be one of the core values of the company. This commitment can be seen in the Tupperware Manufacturing plants injury rates that continue to decline since 1997 and are a fraction of industry standards. See figure 1. The Diecraft Mold Shop’s accident rates have also compared favorably to industry standards in the past two years. The small size of this facility tends to amplify any injuries since rates are calculated based on 100,000 hours worked. See figure 2. Tupperware Brands continues to work with the newly acquired facilities within the International Beauty Group to help them reduce their accident rates. See figure 3.

Environmental

Pollution prevention and resource conservation play an integral part in the Company’s overall environmental program. In 2007, the Company’s manufacturing operations realized a savings of approximately $6.2 million through their material recycling, reuse, and reduction efforts. This is up from $5.2 million in the previous year, due to the addition of International Beauty facilities and the increase in value of in-process scrap materials. See figure 4.

Tupperware Brands is constantly vigilant in the effects of its use of raw materials and processes, seeking alternative chemicals and manufacturing techniques to reduce its global impact. Air emissions are minimal, ozone depleting chemicals have been eliminated from use, toxic and hazardous chemicals have been substituted with ones of less health effects, and waste is rigidly controlled and disposed of properly.

The most stringent, best-in-class environmental standards are implemented worldwide. Even though not required in some instances, wastewater systems have been installed around the world, since good clean water is an important commodity to be conserved and maintained. The plants are in the process of installing Energy-efficient lighting, and looking at other ways to reduce energy usage.
