Sustainability
What does it mean? How do you
achieve it? These questions are being discussed and debated in board rooms and break rooms in businesses and communities across the globe. An ancient proverb highlights why it is important to look for answers: In every decision, we must consider the impact of that decision on the next seven generations.
Many businesses initially viewed sustainability as just an environmental issue. But that trend is changing and Tupperware Brands has been at the forefront of that change, embracing sustainability as a way to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainability can be traced to the very beginning of our companys history. The solid foundation of more than 60 years provides the perfect platform on which to build. Sustainability is woven into Tupperwares culture, practices, and premium products sold around the world. Sustainability initiatives must allow room for growth, change, and flexibility. We are committed to being a leader in sustainable manufacturing with strong energy reduction initiatives while focusing on developing innovative ways around 3Rs. Initiatives to Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse paper, cardboard, wood, energy, water, and plastics are preserving resources while saving money. These initiatives take place in our plants as well as at the sales force and consumer level.
Tupperware is focused on eco-friendly product solutions that eliminate thousands of years of waste in landfills by offering an alternative to disposable products. Many of our beauty businesses have introduced refillable containers for their facial cream and other products. The refill concept decreases the harmful environmental impact caused by packaging waste. From our already environmentally friendly products to our new Green @ Work Associate Network, we provide leadership and education on ways to implement environmental and sustainable living practices on our campus and in our homes, thereby integrating economic, environmental and social considerations into our lifestyle.
Through our policies and high standards, we protect the health and safety of our associates, act as good stewards of the environment, and produce quality, sustainable products. At the same time, we are equally committed to cultivating sustainable social and community development partnerships with organizations like the Logros Foundation in Uruguay which creates sustainable, organic gardens that benefit schools, women, and their families. In Mexico, we have partnered with Fundación Origen, to offer a free crisis hotline that connects women in need to counselors in the legal, medical, and economic arena and we have launched a women to women scholarship program. In India, we are partnering with Literacy India to create a school where children can study and a training environment for women where they can learn a skill that translates into income and self-confidence. These are just a few of the highlights from across the globe.
Each of us is in a position to become even better caretakers of our environment, better global partners, better mentors for women and girls, and better advocates for our peers. A the same time, we are constantly identifying opportunities that make us more productive and protective of our neighbors, our customers, and our communities around the world.
Tupperware Brands is committed to leaving a legacy that drives positive change in womens lives; staying focused on delivering high quality products, and preserving and improving the environment around the globe.
