Sustainability in our Manufacturing Plants
Sustainability extends to Tupperware’s pollution prevention
and resource conservation initiatives. Strict, state-of-the-art
environmental standards are in place at our manufacturing
plants worldwide. Throughout Tupperwares manufacturing
plants, Environmental Management Systems are utilized as
a method of managing processes and procedures that allow
Tupperware to analyze, control and reduce the environmental
impact of its activities, products and services. In addition,
our world-class Belgium Tupperware plant is ISO14001
Certified.
From seeking alternative chemicals and manufacturing techniques
to installing energy-efficient lighting and wastewater systems,
Tupperware is working diligently to reduce its global impact.
Sustainability also includes the well-being of Tupperware associates at our manufacturing plants across the globe. Tupperware is committed to making sure that associates go home to their families injury-free at the end of each work day. As a result of our policies and training, our injury rates are a fraction of industry levels.
Tupperware Quality |
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Policies |
Tupperware is distinguished by a legacy of products that last a lifetime–and then some. It’s not uncommon for Tupperware® products to be passed on from one generation′s kitchen to the next.
Since our products are intentionally designed to
last a lifetime, Tupperware is relentless about quality.
We're uncompromising about all the elements that go
into testing, evaluating, and approving our products.
Another distinctive characteristic of our products
is in the way they are built, Tupperware manufactures
using the highest most durable mold making technology
in the industry. Ensuring our products can be manufactured
with the same standard of quality around the world.
Tupperware product mold-making
Starting with the raw materials selected, every step in the manufacturing process complies with government regulations and Tupperware′s stringent specifications for consistency and safety. Before a Tupperware® product leaves the plant, it must pass rigorous performance and durability testing under the most extreme product usage conditions. By adhering to good manufacturing processes and regulations and being vigilant and unrelenting in our standards, Tupperware ensures that its products provide sustainable solutions.
Discussion on safety and impact of plastic and BPA BPA
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO ON BPA |
-
Tupperware recognizes significant opportunities to implement the “3Rs” at our plant facilities. Initiatives to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle paper, cardboard, wood, energy, water, and plastics are preserving resources while saving money.
-
As a result, in 2008, we reused approximately 3.6 million pounds or 1,619 tons of plastic raw material globally. Tupperware returned products are recycled and utilized for non-food purposes.
-
To benchmark our efforts, Tupperware completed its first carbon footprint analysis in 2008. We will continue to measure our progress and monitor the success of our “3Rs” initiatives across the globe.
